An old tradition brought back in the last few years, visiting temples to pray for spirits of one’s ancestors on the day of Quingming (Pure Brightness), the fifteenth day after the vernal equinox. They light red candles, burn a sheet of paper, put their hands together and recite several prayers. They go home taking the ash from the burnt paper. I saw some young people laugh out loud at older people taking part.
