Ronaldo is not an isolated case: dozens of people are attacked by elephants in Nepal every year – and the trend is rising. The population is spreading, and the demand for resources is leading to degradation and fragmentation of natural habitats – a problem that is causing conflicts between wildlife and humans worldwide.
